On Friday, Oct.16, 2009, the 13TH EACRT (East Asia Conference of Radiological Technologists) was held at Hotel Lotte World in Seoul successfully. The international symposium on the difference of educational system and role of technologists between KOREA, Taiwan and JAPAN was held in this conference.

12TH EACRT was held in Kagoshima. |
The 12TH East Asia Conference of Radiological Technologists (EACRT) was held from June 4 to 6 in Kagoshima, Japan.
Over 1200 japanese members and 40 overseas members participated in this conference. There were 127 oral presentations and 54 posters in domestic session, also 43 papers in International sessions.
Next conference will be held on Oct. 15-16, 2009 in Seoul. We hope many participants join to this conference.

On Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, 11TH East Asia Conference of Radiological Technologists (EACRT) was held at Taipei Veterans' General Hospital in TAIWAN.
Mr. Robert George (ISRRT President) made a speech as special lecture. It was entitled "Emerging Trends in Medical Imaging and their Impact on Technologists".
Many participants had come from Japan, Korea, Thailand, Macau, Hongkong, Mongol and so on.

Exchange group from Australia visit to JART office on Oct. 6.
This visit were as exchange program of Australia and Japan profession foundation.
Also they went to JARTEC(WHO authorized training center)and SUZUKA Univ. On the last day of their visit, Mr. Harima(vice president of JART) attended a farewell party at the ambassador's residence of Australia in JAPAN.

On Thursday, Jul.10, 2008, the 9TH Japan-Korea-Taiwan joint conference was held at Sapporo convention center in Hokkaido, JAPAN. Many papers from Korea and Taiwan had been accepted. All papers for International sessions were excellent. We hope many foreign members attend this joint scientific conference.

On Saturday, June 7, 2008, the election of directors and auditors of JART has been performed and 32 directors were elected. Next day, new board of directors elected Mr. KITAMURA as a new president of JART. Mr. ABE and Mr. HARIMA became new vice-presidents respectively. Past president Mr. KUMAGAI moved to the advisor of JART.

The 8th ROC - Korea - Japan International joint conference was held. |
On Saturday, Feb 24, 2008, Japan, Korea and R.O.C 3 nations Representative Conference was held at Hsinchu city (Taiwan). 18 Japanese members participated to this conference and 3 excellent papers were presented in International Session.
JART announced The 9th Japan-Korea-R.O.C. International joint conference is scheduled from July 10 to 12 in 2008 at Sapporo-City Hokkaido.
We do sincerely hope our international relation would become more active from now on.

The international certifying examination by the International Accreditation Board for Special Radiological Technologists was held on September 16, 2007. The participants of this examination were 6 countries(region) as follows; Japan, Korea, R.O.C., Hong Kong, Macao, and Thailand.

The 6th Japan - Korea - ROC International joint conference was held. |
On Friday, June 8, 2007, Japan, Korea and R.O.C 3 nations Representative Conference was held at Kanazawa city (Ishikawa Pref.), during The 23rd JART annual scientific congress.
Following to the Confirmation of the progress on the international certifying examination by The International Accreditation Board for Special Radiological Technologists held on September 16, 2007, it was reported Thailand would participate the examination form this qualification. Accordingly, the participants of this examination would become 7 nations, Japan, Korea, R.O.C., Hong Kong, Singapore, Macao, and Thailand.
KRTA (The Korean Radiological Technologists Association), reported The 7th Korea-R.O.C.-Japan International joint conference is scheduled on October 12 in Seoul City (Lotte World Hotel), and ARTROC (The Association of Radiological Technologists of The Republic of China). also reported The 8th R.O.C.-Japan-Korea International joint conference is to beheld on February 24 in 2008 in Hsinchu-City, then JART announced The 9th Japan-Korea-R.O.C. International joint conference is scheduled from July 10 to 12 in 2008 at Sapporo-City Hokkaido.

The 5th International Joint Conference was held on Jan.14 at Kaohsiung Veteran's General Hospital in Kaohsiung. This year is 40th anniversary of ARTROC.
23 Japanese members participated to this conference and 4 excellent papers were presented in International Session.

The 4th Joint conference was held on OCT. 28 at LOTTE WORLD HOTEL in Seoul.
Over 40 Japanese members participated to this conference. We had two international sessions and a poster Q&A session.

The 3rd Japan - Korea - ROC International Joint Conference was held. |
The 3rd Japan-Korea-Rep. of China International Joint Conference was held from Oct. 6 to 9 in Yonago, Japan.
Over 2200 japanese members and 50 overseas members participated in this conference. We had 127 oral presentations, 54 posters and 43 International presentations. On Oct. 7, Japan-Korea-Taiwan representative meeting was held at Yonago Convention Center with Mr. Cho(President of KRTA), Mr. Ko(President of ARTROC) and Mr. Kumagai(President of JART) presents. They confirmed the 4th joint conference will be held on Oct. 28, 2006 in Seoul and 5th joint conference will be held on Jan. 14 in Kaohsiung.

The second ROC- Korea-Japan International Joint Conference was held. |
On January 18, '06 The 2nd ROC-Korea-Japan international joint conference was held at Central Taiwan University of Science and Technology in Taichung-city. More than 2500 were attended this convention from Japan and Korea. Because consecutive education becomes essential, the convention was in fevered air. 7 themes were presented by members from Japan, proving such exchange convention has planted gradually. During the course of this convention, Mr. Tyrone Goh, the Chairman of ISRRT, had special lecture and the atmosphere was really international one. From JART 18 members headed by the Chairman Mr. Kumagai were attended. |

15th ACRT was held |
During November 19th to 23rd, 15th ACRT was held at Makuhari Messe International Conference (Chiba Prefecture). Diagnosis Radiological Technologists from 10 nations like domestic Japan of course then Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Macau and India were attended to announce the result of study and to exchange the opinion through symposium. Determine India would be next ACRT host country, the convention ended in success.

Korea, Taiwan and Japan 3 nations Representative Conference was held |
At 9 a.m. on October 8, '05 Korea, Taiwan and Japan 3 nations Representative Conference was held at HOHEL LOTTE WORLD in Seoul.
For this conference, the Chairman Mr. Cho, Vice Chairman Dr. Lee, Managing Director Mr. Lim from Korea, Director of Medical Radiology Academy in the Republic of China Mr. Ko, Honorary Director Mr. To, Director of federation Mr. Lim, Director Mr. Chin from Taiwan and from JART, Chairman Mr. Kazumasa Kumagai, Managing Director Ms. Yumi Kimura, Director Mr. Tsukasa Ito, Administrative Manager Mr. Hiroaki Saijyo and Chairman of JSMIM Mr. Kazuyuki Abe participated in.
At this assembly, the contents of agreement on the International Radiological Technologist Authorizing organization were confirmed and concluded the ceremony of signing would take place prior to the banquette.
And confirmed the second 3 Nations joint convention will be held at Central Taiwan University of Science and Technology on January 15, 2006 and the excerpt should be submitted before December 20, 2005.
Since the convention is scheduled to hold in 3 nations, there will be 3 conventions in a year, to realize even interval between each convention, attendees agreed to adjust schedule accordingly.
Following to this, Asia Fund operational plan was discussed, to achieve its primary objective to support countries where technologist's organization is not formed yet, affiliated countries will examine in the ACRT scheduled in November. And current ACRT is the only name of studying convention, considering the inauguration of ECRT organization in Europe and AA Conference in Asia has already done away with, Japan suggested reorganization of the conference as AACRT to include Aust-laisya Area in existing ACRT.
On the same day afternoon, 3 Nations Chairman meeting was took place and the directors of International Radiological Specialist Authorizing Organization were elected. From Japan, Chairman Mr. Kumagai and Managing Director Mr. Kimura were appointed as Directors of the organization and Chairman Mr. Kumagai was installed as an agreed Chairman. With this assumption, organization bureau is to be located in the JART. Hereafter, qualification of Medical Imaging Information Administrator will be authorized by organization then expand the system into Europe, America and Australasia area Furthermore, the meeting basically agreed to aim the qualification of Radiogram Administrator as well as Radiological Equipment Supervisor system adopted in Japan would become an International Authorization. Globalization has rapidly proceed with and we do expect further development of the organization.

The First Korea Taiwan Japan united Science Council was held |
On October 8, '05 at 9 a.m., the First Korea Taiwan Japan united Science Council was held at HOTEL LOTTE WORLD in Seoul. Huge banners were hanged both inside and outside of the hotel, this council got attention from Japanese tourists.
International session started at 9 a.m. was a joint symposium between Medical Imaging Information Administrator in Japan and Korean PACS Technology Society gathered many participants in spite of earlier starts.
About 30 oral statements and various announcement with exhibited posters, active opinion exchange were seen in places until 6 p.m. closing time.
At 7 p.m., banquette and to celebrate 40th Anniversary of Korea Radiologists Association was took place. Following to signing up the agreement on the foundation of International Radiological Technologist Authorizing organization by Chairman of 3 nations, banquette began and traditional Korean performance and cultural exchanges between 3 nations were rolled out. Asian 3 nations exchange has getting deeper year by year and will surely contribute to the development of specific medical field in Asian region.
We do hope further deep exchange between the nation. |

Cooperative Authorization of Medical Imaging Information Administrators |
On Heisei 17, May 28th, the meeting was held between Korea Radiologist Association and JART at JART Bureau. From Korea 7 personnel , Chairman Mr. Cho. Vice Chairman Dr. Lee¡¦nd Mr. Ryu, Managing Director Mr. Lim, Chairman of Incheon Association Mr. Kim, Chairman of PACS Technology Institute Mr. Cho, Master of Internet team Mr. Chang (Director of PACS Technology Institute) attended and from JART Chairman Mr. Kazumasa Kumagai, Directors Ms. Kazumi Yamamori, Mr. Katsuhiko Kikuchi, Mr. Hiroshi Sato, Ms Yoko Oyama and form Medical Imaging Information Association Chairman Mr. Kazuyuki Abe, Directors Mr. Ryuji Ikeda and Mr. Yasuhiko Konishi were attended as well.
Prior to this meeting Korea Radiologist Association members visited Tokyo University Hospital to research the current radiological situation in Japan.
The major subject of this meeting is to discuss about procedure to execute the agreed joint authorization of Medical Imaging Administrator. English description of this qualification was agreed as Medical Imaging Information Administrator, and the discussion on the content of examination, qualification renewal system, treatment of existing qualified technologist etc. was made. Also, Japan Medical Imaging Information Institute and Korea PACS Technology Institute agreed to study to promote active exchanges between two parties. Besides above, Japan explained the progress of preparation to hold 15th ACRT and requested possible cooperation by Korea.
In return, Korea asked Japan's participation in the 1st Korea Taiwan Japan joint congress scheduled in October. To maintain and develop present cooperative situation, they proposed to have study seminar between Japan and Korea, and we agreed to work for the implementation such seminars.

Agreement with Korean Radiological Technologists Association on Implementation of International Authorization System starting in October |
Chairman Mr. Kazumasa Kumagai visited Korea from Heisei 14 April 8, researched induction and application of PACS and EMR by clinical radiological technologists then had a meeting with Korea Radiological Technologist Association at their bureau in Seoul.? For this meeting 12 personnel includes Chairman Mr. So , Vice Chairman, Managing Director, Administrative Manager of the bureau, Chairman of Korea PACS Institute were attended from Korea and from Japan, Chairman Mr. Kumagai, Managing Director Mr. Abe (Japan Medical Information Institute), Managing Director Mr. Sato and Manager of the Bureau Mr. Kato were attended.
On the opening of the conference, Chairman Mr. Kumagai celebrates the inauguration of new system and presented memorial gift to Chairman Mr.Cho the meeting started quite congenially. As to the focused subject of Medical Imaging Information Administrator, Korea has already implemented examination twice and in Japan the first examination executed on March 27 so the discussion started to confirm the up dated situation, contents and number of questionnaires, contents of textbook. Through the discussion, we found that even slight difference exists, Medical Imaging Information is proper field to start with International Authorization System and possible to find mutual agreement to expand its description, both parties agreed to implement examination on October 30th this year when Korea planned an examination. The examination will be implemented on the same day under the new system.
In addition, it is already decided to establish International Radiological Specialist Authorization Organization within 3 nations including Taiwan beyond Medical Imaging Information field, discussion on the articles of organization was made between two parties. Waiting for the comments from Taiwan, both parties plans to hold signing ceremony in the 3rd Japan Korea Taiwan joint conference scheduled on October 8th this year.? More than ever, the era enables to evaluate specialty beyond the border has come.

13th ISRRT International Congress (in Hong Kong) |
Due to the influence of SARS, this congress was postponed a year, originally it was scheduled to hold in 2004. The day before the opening, a committee was held and Chairman Mr. Kazumasa Kumagai was gathered, Vice Chairman Mr. Morita and Managing Director Mr. Ooyama were also attended as observers. During the term, various specialist committees were gathered, to the Health Safety Committee renamed as Professional Practices Committee Managing Director Mr. Nakamura attended as representative of Asia/Australaisya region.
As the congress was held in Asian region, there were many Japanese participants and made announcement of studying subjects. At the banquette, participants from various countries performed to sing or dance to appeal unique character. From JART, Managing Director Mr. Narita made a speech and Japanese members introduced a song to deepen intimate friendship. Next International Congress will be held in Dumber U.S. in 2006. |

Representatives of JART attended Taiwan Medical Radiation Consecutive Education Seminar as guests. |
On January 23 just before Chinese new year celebration, Taiwan Medical Radiation Consecutive Education Seminar was held at Laboratory house of Taipei General Hospital. Chairman Mr. Masakazu Kumagai, Managing Directors Mr. Nakamura, Mr. Narita, Mr. Ooyama, Mr. Iizuka were invited by Taiwan and attended the congress. More than 2300 out of 3000 Taiwan Medical Radiation Institute members were assembled and 145 subjects (oral 74, exhibition 71) were released. Besides presentation, there were lectures as study seminar. So many people were there and hardly possible to walk.
On the same day, Chairman Mr. Cho, Vice Chairman Mr. Lee and Mr. Ryu, Managing Director Mr. Lim and two other directors attended from Korea Radiologist Association to promote further science exchanges. With this Association, the first Korea Taiwan and Japan joint science congress is scheduled on October 8 this year.

The 2nd Japan Korea science exchange symposium was held |
Joint with 20TH Annual National Congress, 2nd Japan Korea science exchange symposium was held. The program was joint symposium on the field of Medical Imaging Information and special session presented by Korean participants so the symposium was proceeded with more international atmosphere compared to the past ones.
Mr. Tyrone Goh, Chairman of ISRRT, directors from Taiwan, Japan Korea made discussion on the management of Asian Fund, international science exchange development program and the necessity of international qualification. It also formally decided Taiwan would participate from next congress, so it would be held as Japan Korea Taiwan Science exchange symposium. |

the first Korea Japan science exchange was held |
In accordance with science exchange agreement between JART and Korea Radiologist Association, prepared 1st science exchange was carried out at KyongJu Educational Culture Center at KyongJu in Korea. It was a joint event with the Korea Radiological Technologists Association's annual science symposium, there were many participants. From JART, more than 80 members attended and from members form Taiwan, although they decision was just before the symposium, gathered so the symposium was in international mood.
Korean, Japanese and English were spoken, it was an ideal occasion to grasp the present situation of diagnosis and study at each countries. Day before the opening, discussion was made between Chairman and directors of KRTA and JART, Chairman of Pusan Technolosits Association suggested to hold exchange opportunity among local technologist such as Kyushu are where geographically close to Pusan. And the suggestion was hold for local discussion.

Visit Australia Radiologist Association |
During March 13 to 17 Chairman Mr. Kumagai, Managing Director Mr. Narita and Mr. Nakamura visited Australia Radiological Technologist Association (AIR) to ensure international cooperation by ISRRT to A/A region.
AIR is the most active Radiological Technologist Association in Oceanic region and the member counts about 4000. Current important projects are framing operation guideline, inauguration of insurance operation, constitution of WG, intense the thoughts of technologists in each area and examine to find how should be a specialist etc.
Referring the education system in Europe and the United States of America, they consider 3 years education and 2 years specialist education to get Master and PhD degree.
Technologist (engineer) license is issued in each state. Examination committee is consisted with 2 doctors, 2 technologists and 1 nursery staff.
The conference was held at the AIR bureau in Mel borne with Chairman Mr. Jo Smylie, Mr. Peter Rouse (Future examination chief), Ms. Kathleen Nagle (Organization arrangement chief), Mr. Emilem Badawy (Chief Bureau), Mr. Robert Gorge (Vice Chairman ISRRT), and 3 JART members.
Subjects were cooperation in the Asia/Oceanic region, education system in the future and ACRT and active discussion spent a long time.
In terms of International Cooperation, it is reported that the idea of Pacific funds the same as Asian Fund is now planning stage. As to the education system, following to the revision of education standard at ISRRT Boston Congress last year we have concluded the establishment of training system and qualification system is essential. As to ACRT, they set up education program and consider internationalization by ACRT authorized license.? Accordingly, the necessity of the meeting to discuss about current problems and future of technologist in each country and the discussion on level up as a specialist during the course of '05 Conference to be held in Japan was suggested.
